Every color is different number and you can remember these numbers or you can just use the table on next step.
How to color code resistors. There are four different color bands a b c and d printed on the resistor body as shown in below figure. Resistors with high precision have an extra color band to indicate a third significant digit. In the example on the left these bands are green blue red and gold.
The coding of color is defined in the international standard 1ec60062. The power rating of the resistor depends upon the physical size of the resistor. If your resistor has five or six color bands the third band becomes this additional digit along with bands one and two.
The color coding of these color bands on the resistor is used to identify the value and tolerance. The five and six band resistor colour code is more commonly associated with the high precision 1 and 2 film types while the common garden variety 5 and 10 general purpose types tend to use the four band resistor colour code. The value of the resistor is marked on the body using colors.
Resistors come in a range of tolerances but the two most common are the e12 and the e24 series. So for example if a resistor has brown and red as the first two bands the most significant digits will be 1 and 2 12. And also the entire body of the resistor is colored.
By using the color code chart one finds that green stands for 5 and blue for 6. Almost all resistors pinned with a power rating of up to 1 watt are marked with color bands. The four band color code is the most common variation.
How to read color codes from resistors. These resistors have two bands for the resistance value one multiplier and one tolerance band. In case of 3 band and 4 band resistors the first two color bands are showing the significant figures and their values while in 5 band and 6 band resistors the 1 st 2 nd and 3 rd color bands are showing the significant figures and related values.
There are one or more colors on the ends of the resistors called as tip colors and lastly. Select the number of bands then their colors to determine the value and tolerance of the resistors or view all resistors digi key has to offer. In resistor color codes each color shows a specific value.
